Rowing is consistently seen as one of Great Britain’s most successful Olympic sports having collected 63 medals since Paris 1900.
It is the only sport in which Team GB have won a gold medal at every Games since 1984 and boasts one of Britain’s greatest ever Olympians, Sir Steve Redgrave, who won five Olympic golds across five successive Games between 1984 and 2000.
Rowing events for men were first held in the Paris 1900 Olympic Games, while women’s events were first included in the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal.
