Inspired to get a Priority Access Pass

The chance to experience the greatest show on earth and discover the wonderful culture of Japan are the reasons Ed Jones became one of Team GB Live’s first Priority Access Pass bookers in the UK.

Mr Jones, from York, jumped at the chance to secure his priority access to fully exclusive packages to Tokyo 2020 just minutes after they went on sale.

“The Olympics is simply an unreal experience, the ultimate in sporting achievement, and is always something I have wanted to see,” said Mr Jones, aged 48.

“I signed up to the Team GB Live database because I wanted the reassurance of travelling with Team GB, of travelling officially and to be guaranteed to see the events I’d like to see. When the Priority Access Pass became available it was an easy decision – I signed up immediately. It was simple, hassle free and gave me peace of mind.”

“It’s funny to think I was one of the first out of the thousands of Team GB fans and in some ways it’s why I did it – to know I will get priority access to the events I want to see.”

He will make the trip to Japan with his wife Charlotte and their three children – Charlie 10, Rosy 13 and Harry 16 – and they all want different experiences from the trip as well as the chance to experience some athletics, swimming, gymnastics and beach volleyball.

“My son Charlie has a friend he wants to visit and we will tie that in with the Shinkansen trip, while Rosy has asked to see the Shinjuku Gyoen national garden and Senso-Ji Temple. Harry, who is 16, has slightly different tastes and wants to do the Mario Kart trip around Tokyo, while Charlotte and I would like to see Mount Fuji so we definitely have a bit of everything.

“From an Olympic perspective, Team GB’s swimming team would be fantastic to see and so would some athletics so if we can do that and tie it in with some other events that would be fantastic.

“It really will be the trip of a lifetime and combines two great passions – the Olympics, which is simply fantastic, and travel to a great country with its rich culture and history. We can’t wait!”.
