Hockey first appeared on the Olympic programme in 1908 with Great Britain winning one gold, a silver and two bronze when competing as four separate Home Nations. The sport returned to the Games in 1920 and has been present ever since.

Team GB’s women won their first ever Olympic gold at Rio 2016, going undefeated throughout the Games and beating defending champions the Netherlands on penalties in the final.

They also won bronze at London 2012 and the men claimed gold at Seoul 1988 so Team GB will be aiming for more success in Tokyo.
